“Four Chances for Drama” was created in 2014 as part of a performance series. This piece works as a trial performance which explores the idea and concept of drama from the perspectives of body, score, sketch, and text as abstract meanings to be intrepreted from the original one.
Based on the dance score “THE FIVE LEGGED STOOL” (by ANN HALPLIN,1962), a new performance comes to life captured by Chulayarnnon Siriphol, upcoming video artist based in Bangkok.
This action of recording brings forth ideas on how to archive contemporary dance. As musicians have music sheets that can be interpreted by many, in the dance world we encounter a different paradigm that includes questions about new technologies and traditional techniques.
In the visual structure of this particular score, time runs in the horizontal axis and the characters (cast) on the vertical axis, distributing every task in each of the parts. When presented to the audience on stage there are screens where they can follow the score, bringing unity to this unique experience through a conceptual masterpiece.
As an experimental work The 5x5 legged stool brings forth ideas on what a theater piece can describe or represent by simply using the score as a literal element, that describes an event/ object unaware of space and beyond time.
