Nawarat Welployngam, 2024

Nawarat "Nammon" Welployngam’s “Community-Lab” showcases her mix-media with archives she works with a community. Her work shows at “The 23rd Silpa Bhirasri’s Creativity Grants” exhibition running through November 16, 2024.

Artist’s statement about this work:

Amid the intersections of fine arts and sciences, between feelings and facts, between self-obsession in the studio and the exploration of surrounding aesthetics, this project aims to experiment and explore new possibilities where art and community work can support each other. The results will be a “community art” project with three objectives: to bridge the gap between people and art/community and art festivals, to conserve and maintain the community’s cultural heritage by creating a digital cultural heritage collection and to develop and enhance the collaboration between local artists and contemporary artists.

“…The project is a multifaceted art installation focused on the community's historical and cultural natives, utilizng artifacts, technology, and interactive elements to create a dynamic and immersive experience. It explores the intersection of personal and communal histories, aiming to preserve and present these stories in a meaningful way…” - Nawarat Welployngam
