Title: "Flowing Treasures”
Artist: Tharinee Ratanasatien
Medium: Mixed Media Installation, Video, and Sound Art
"Flowing Treasures" transforms a gallery into a space where art, urban history, river ecologies, and human connections converge.
Suspended from the gallery ceiling, an azure blue fishing net takes center stage. Each delicate strand cradles a piece of history from the Phadung Krung Kasem Canal. Rusty nails, worn spoons, remnants of 2A batteries and many more dangle within the net, forming a visual narrative of the canal's journey through time.
Accompanying the visual spectacle is a dynamic video and sound art installation. Projected visuals transport viewers to the heart of Nangloeng, illustrating the profound connection between the community and the canal. The ambient soundscape completes the sensory experience, immersing visitors in the daily rhythm of life along the waterway.
Nestled within the exhibition is a dedicated reflection space. Here, viewers are invited to sit, contemplate, and absorb the rich narratives woven into "Flowing Treasures." The environment encourages personal connections, allowing visitors to share their own stories or simply lose themselves in the evocative atmosphere.
"Flowing Treasures" serves as a poignant commentary on environmental sustainability and the preservation of cultural heritage. It beckons viewers to consider the impact of urbanization on historic waterways and fosters a sense of community pride and connection.
