“Out of the Blue !

Tharinee "Palm" Ratanasatien, 2024

Out of the Blue! brings the sky directly to the community with a mobile, interactive art installation designed to blend seamlessly with the familiar environment of the Nang Loeng community. Inspired by the everyday food cart, this mobile cart reflects local culture and the dynamic nature of the neighborhood. The mirrors on all sides and bottom of the cart create a surreal, infinite sky when viewed from the peep hole at the top. This illusion of an endless sky serves as a metaphor for boundless reflection and introspection, offering a meditative escape from the bustling surroundings. By inviting participants to write their thoughts and emotions on the cart’s whiteboard surface, this artwork also fosters a sense of shared mindfulness, allowing the community to collectively explore, release, and transform their inner reflections.

Out of the Blue!

Interactive Mobile Installation

2024

Mixed media: Mirrors, mobile cart, whiteboard

In Out of the Blue!, the ordinary Thai street cart becomes a portal for mindfulness and community connection. Covered with mirrors and open to the sky, this mobile installation creates an endless sky reflection within, inviting viewers to reflect and reconnect with themselves. By looking through a small peephole, viewers glimpse an infinite world of sky and clouds, a reminder of the vastness above and the depth within. Participants are encouraged to express their thoughts or emotions on the whiteboard, leaving a trace of their presence in this collaborative community artwork. This installation is designed to move around the Nang Loeng neighborhood, integrating art into the fabric of the community and fostering accessible, everyday moments of mindfulness.
