Mai Nakabayashi

Japanese performer, Mai Nakabayashi, came to Nang Lerng and stay 2 weeks for learning “Lakhon Chatri” with Kanya Tippayosot; the last traditional Lakhon Chatri performer in Nang Lerng.

Originally, Lakhon Chatri are invited to play in several ceremonies eg. wedding, funeral or kae bon.

Mai has combined her ballet and contemporary dance abilities with the traditional chatri "Cat Dance" that she learned from a local Chatri dancer to perform alongside the local Chatri troupe in a celebratory ceremony for an elderly homeless man living in the Nangloeng neighborhood who recently received his first ID card at the age of 72. By collaborating with various parties to push for Uncle Tu's resolution, who was born in the Khaenang Loeng temple community but does not have an ID card, the Bangkok Clinic Project and Stateless Person Network have helped in the case of a homeless, homeless man, Mr. Chan Suchinda or Uncle Tu, who has lived in the Wat Sunthon Thammathan (Wat Kaenang Loeng) Pom Prap Sattru Phai district for more than 20 years.
